Milk matters! As a LC, I am here to help you.

Hello, my name is Kusum, and I am a Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse with many years of experience working in hospital and community settings. Through my work, I have gained a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and practical challenges mothers face during birth and after going home with their baby.
Caring for a newborn is not easy, and breastfeeding—while natural—often comes with its own set of challenges. I approach every family with empathy and without judgment, because I truly believe that every mother is doing her very best for her baby. My role is to support, guide, and empower you throughout your feeding journey.
At Hope Women and Babies, I believe that every mother and baby deserve access to high-quality, compassionate lactation care. I provide personalized support tailored to each family’s unique needs, circumstances, and goals.
As a mother of three, I understand this journey on a personal level. Each of my breastfeeding experiences was different—some moments were joyful, others confusing and challenging. There were times when self-doubt nearly made me give up. Like many new mothers, my goal was to keep my baby safe and healthy, while also caring for my own physical and emotional well-being.

I offer a variety of services to help new parents achieve their breastfeeding/ chestfeeding goals, including in-home consultations, virtual consultations, and support groups. I provide care to women with sore/ flat nipples, correcting Latch, insufficient milk supply, oversupply, tongue/ lip ties, colic and much more. I take online prenatal classes ,2 hour Breastfeeding class (which is an interactive session) and also provide information for breast pump rentals and sales.

Breastfeeding needs to be started within one hour of birth. However it is important to keep in mind the mother's health status at the time of birth. Partners can help mothers with their breastfeeding journey in many ways. If unable to breastfeed right away, hand expression and using breast pumps are ways to promote feeding.
Golden hour is referred to immediate 1 hour after mother gives birth. This first hour is so crucial and skin to skin is encouraged. This first hour of skin to skin promotes maternal and baby's wellbeing by promoting bonding, temperature regulation, breastfeeding, stabilizes heart rate and respiration, alleviate pain and much more benefits.
Colostrum is first form of breastmilk which is dense yellow fluid consisting nutrients, antibodies and antimicrobial elements which supports the immunity and energy requirements of the baby for the first 3-4 days until milk comes in.
Milk usually comes in around 3 to 5 days. However it is important to know that there are factors which affects milk supply such as
